Geoffrey Paine, D.D.S.
Dr. Geoff Paine grew up in Manistee and graduated from Manistee High School. He then earned his BA degree from Kalamazoo College and completed his Doctor of Dental Surgery at the University of Detroit. After graduation, he served in a primary care dental practice in Cedar Grove, West Virginia for two years before taking over the practice of Dr. Ford Stone, his childhood dentist and mentor.
While in West Virginia, Dr. Paine received two years of training at Straight Wire Orthodontic Studies for the general practitioner in Pittsburgh. He has attended numerous post graduate courses over the last 30 years in all aspects of dentistry including implants, lasers, microscope enhanced dentistry, minimally invasive and biomimetic dentistry.
Dr. Paine is married and has two daughters. He enjoys skiing, sailing, biking, kiteboarding, and kayaking. He has volunteered as a ski coach for over 30 years and is currently serving on the board of the Manistee County Foundation. He is a member of Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, American Dental Association, Michigan Dental Association, Manistee Mason District Dental Society (two time past president), and the Academy of Microscope Enhanced Dentistry. Dr. Paine was also past president of the Manistee Jaycees.
Tyler Smith, D.D.S.
Dr. Smith grew up in Clarkston, Michigan, where he graduated from Notre Dame Preparatory High School. He attended Miami University in Ohio, where he earned a B.S. in Biology and a minor in Management and Leadership. He then went on to dental school at The University of Michigan earning his Doctorate in Dental Surgery.
Dr. Smith is a member of the American Dental Association, Michigan Dental Association, The Academy of General Dentistry, and Manistee/Mason County Dental Society. His goal is to address each patient's individual concerns and develop a comprehensive treatment plan that works for them.
Dr. Smith moved to Ludington in 2019 with his wife Jesse and their brown lab Lady. They enjoy hiking the Lake Michigan shoreline, Manistee National Forest, and the Ludington State Park. His hobbies include boating, snowmobiling, skiing, and traveling. Dr. Smith is thrilled to be a new member of the Manistee community and looks forward to providing quality and compassionate care to its residents.
Renee has been at Water's Edge Dentistry since 2013. Her education includes graduating from Ferris State University, where she became a Registered Dental Hygienist. Along with continuing education classes, she has 23 plus years of dental experience. She participates in dental health month for kids and enjoys working with people to achieve their positive oral health care. Renee was raised and currently lives in Onekama area. She is married to her wonderful husband, Rob, and has two beautiful daughters, Ashlyn and Aleah. In her spare time, she enjoys cooking, walking the dog, spending time on Platte Lake, and being with family and friends.
Katie is one of our dental hygienists. She has been working as a RDH since graduating from Ferris State University in 2006. She moved back to Manistee, where she was born and raised, in 2012 to raise her own family with her husband, Paul. They have three awesome kids, Griffin, Ada, and Silas. She enjoys spending time with her family, especially at the beach!

Rachel is one of our receptionists who has happily returned to our office, previously working as a dental assistant. She has lived in Manistee most of her life and is a graduate from Brethren High School. Rachel enjoys spending time with her family and dogs, going to the beach, skiing and cooking. She is a mother of four beautiful girls, Zoe, Ellie, Willa and Harper.
Michelle has been working as a dental assistant at Water's Edge Dentistry since 1999. She was born and raised in Manistee. She went to Grand Rapids Educational Center in Kalamazoo before she moved back up north to Onekama. She has one daughter and two sons. She enjoys kayaking, shooting pool, and spending time with her kids and family.
Sylvia has been a Registered Dental Assistant since 2013. She attended the dental assistant program at NMC in Traverse City. She was born, raised, and currently lives in Bear Lake. She has one fur baby named Koda. In her spare time, she loves spending time with friends, family, and being outdoors. Summer in Northern Michigan is her favorite because she gets to get out on her standing paddle board!
Megan is one of our Dental Assistants. She was born, raised, and currently lives in Manistee. She has been a Registered Dental Assistant since 2015 and attended the dental assistant program at NMC in Traverse City. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with family and friends and loves to travel as often as possible. Her favorite part of being an assistant is getting to know patients and provide them with the best care.
